Dexter's Lab

these were painted for Dexter's Lab (created by Genndy Tartacoughsky) when Dave Smith (genius creator of Bozzlebag's Zip, JoJo and Mushhead, and voice over kingpin for MANY a famed Dreamworks© character) was running the show with a bunch of other CalArts kids from my past while GT and his flaming sword were at the helm of SAMURAI JOKE. a word about Mr Smith. he was the ONLY one who trusted me enough as a painter or artist to let me get involved with ANYTHING creative after my dissolve with the heart of darkness at Cartoon Network (by this i mean a few fat headed kids who thought they were the SH*T because their pilot was chosen for series based on it's homogeny and mediocrity - these shows were a network's stab in the dark at what might be popular - there was no falling out with the network itself - i was hired on Johnny Bravo before i gave Dexter's Lab the finger it so deserved - i'll never forget that because it felt SO GOOD!). THANKS DAVID PRESTON SMITH for letting me have a chance without having to kiss the ring! at this juncture i'd like to point out how long ago these were painted and that i am choosing NOT to rant about how queer everyone in animation truly is today (this of course barring Pixar - what's up John L! please save imagineering! NOTE: NO GROVELING FOR A JOB IN THIS RANT!) - though i will ad that nothing ever produced by Genndy or Craig was even remotely funny aside from a few boards that Dave Smith, Cindy and Clay Morrow Don Shank, Lou Romano, or Mike Stern did. "BOY what an attitude!" - my EXACT thoughts about so many talented people in the cartoon industry! for the most part i find humorous programming today to be nebulous vague poorly timed never ending and based in juvenile naiveté - in a word - unfun

really pretty backgrounds, Miles. i dont know if you remember me from Lil Pimp. I was in the color room. I still listen to the Delta Blues CD you gave me all the time. It's funny, I now work in that same area that Dexter's was in on the 3rd floor of CNS on Billy and Mandy. Some of the stuff they had hung up is still there.
